Our Story

While sipping Chardonnay in wine country one summer afternoon, I realized that my vanilla perfume was fragrantly wafting from my skin around the glass and across the tasting room. All the vanilla, honeydew and oak scents of the wine combined with my fragrance and were heightened as I sipped and sniffed.

But then the winemaker asked firmly, “WHO is wearing perfume in the tasting room?”  

In the world of wine tasting, wearing perfume while sipping is strictly prohibited, I quickly learned, as it interferes with the bouquet of the wine in the glass. I'd suddenly and accidentally defied the etiquette of the tasting room. But something intriguing was happening here, as my perfume mingled perfectly with the wine.

“That’s a curious rule,” I thought, and while greatly respecting the art of the winemaker, I wondered how I could be a wine rebel and lightheartedly challenge the decrees of the tasting room, making the worlds of wine and perfume more accessible and more celebratory.

I returned to my scent studio with 5 favorite bottles of wine, red to white, and sniffed and sipped and whiffed until I blended perfumes that captured the notes of each of the varietals. Fragrances that enhanced all the nuances in the glass, and that when combined with a sip of wine, enlightened all the senses.

The final blends are a brand new concept in fine fragrance – scents that enhance the nuances of both wine and perfume. We believe they are a truly sensorial and experiential approach to appreciating the world of wine – and perfume, two of the oldest known pleasures in the world. Cheers!
